Hello,

I have been trying to start demand tools on a new received windows 10 laptop.

After double-click I see the hourglass for ~3 seconds that the application crashes.

I have tried with both versions 32 and 64 bit.

Looking at the .Net framework 4.62 listed on

http://www.helpconsole.com/DemandTools/default.aspx#pageid=installation

I can see that win10 is listed on the app page but not on the provider (MS) page.

Basically it seems that  .Net 4.6.2 is not supported on Win 10.

I have .net 4.7 on Win 10.

I am using Office 365 ProPlus 32 bit.

Please help.

Hi LA,

Based on the matrix found here, the only way you should be using the 64-bit DemandTools is if your OS is also 64-bit.

You should ensure that you have full admin rights to the machine you are trying to install on as well as read/write permissions to the local Documents folder.

I suggest rebooting and reinstalling to see if that helps.

If you are unsure of your permissions to your machine, you will need to ask your IT team.

I hope this helps!

Closing the loop on this one.  The issue ended up being an international (non US) locale (in this case the Netherlands).  For some reason this was not allowing some of our files to be read and the initial set-up to not finish, i.e. creating all the folders/files in DemandTools data and fully create the registry files/entries.

The problem has been reproduced internally and we are working on a fix in our next release, 2.8, which should be released by the end of this month (if not sooner).

Good news is there is a workaround!

1.  In Control Panel change the "region" setting to "English (United States)" and apply the changes.

2.  Launch DemandTools (should get the login screen now).

3.  Login to DemandTools to finish the set-up process (DemandToolsData folders and .reg file).

4.  Change the Region back to the non-us desired setting.

NOTE:  This workaround works for all modules EXCEPT Single Table Dedupe.  That will shutdown with a UE when trying to populate the results grid.  If needing to use that module before the fix is available users will need to change the locale back to English(United States).

We apologize for the inconvenience!
